Volunteer Today!

Home-Start Hampshire is a charity focused on supporting families with young children across Hampshire who are experiencing challenging times.

We are seeking volunteers to join our team in Bordon to support our weekly New Parents Group, which will be meeting on a Monday from 10am -11.30am, starting in early January.

The group, based in central Bordon, will deliver a 12-week programme for new parents to support their parenting journey, including sessions on weaning, sensory play and parental self-care and wellbeing. Each session will be thoughtfully delivered to provide emotional and practical support for new parents, including opportunities to meet other parents with young babies in the local area.

As a group volunteer, you will work with an experienced member of staff and other volunteers to set up and close down group, welcome parents, make them a drink, offer friendly conversation and be an extra pair of hands if required.

As a volunteer you will need to:

  • Have parenting or other relevant lived experience.
  • Have a positive, non-judgmental attitude to working with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate a sensitive and caring attitude towards others.
  • Have good communication skills including an ability to listen.
  • Have a warm and open personality and a sense of humour.
  • Be able to support the group weekly or fortnightly.
  • Complete the Home-Start preparation-training course (via eLearning and one face to face session)

What’s in it for you?

  • Give something back to the community and make a difference.
  • Transferable skills to enhance your CV.
  • A chance to try something new.
  • Improve your confidence and self-esteem.
  • Be part of a friendly team, meet new people.

What we will do for you:

  • Free training.
  • Help to make you feel supported and valued.
  • Opportunities to socialise with other volunteers.
  • Paid travel expenses.
