Home-Start Hampshire celebrates after receiving almost £10k from the National Lottery, Awards for All
Local charity, Home-Start Hampshire is today celebrating after being awarded almost £10,000 in National Lottery funding to support its work with families across the county.
Being a parent, whatever your situation, can be tough. Many parents feel exhausted and overwhelmed by the stresses of family life, but for some parents it’s a particular struggle and this is where Home-Start Hampshire is able to help. Home-Start Hampshire has a network of trained volunteers who provide friendly, non-judgemental support to parents facing difficult times, on a 1-1 basis, in a group setting or a combination of both. The support offered by volunteers encourages parents to build confidence and family resilience, allowing them to give their children the best possible start in life.
The new funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, which distributes money raised by National Lottery players for good causes and is the largest community funder in the UK, will be used to set up a new family support group in the New Forest. The group will help parents build relationships with others experiencing the same challenges and hopefully enable them to develop their own support network.
Amanda Hardacre, Operations Manager for Home-Start Hampshire says of the funding: “We are very excited to have secured funding from the National Lottery, Awards for All to be able to establish a new support group for families within the New Forest. We are hoping to be able to offer support to families otherwise unable to access our service meaning we will be able to support more families across the area. Our support will encourage parents to build their confidence and resilience in the early years of family life, enabling children to grow up with prospects rather than problems……because childhood can’t wait.”
