Maternal Wellbeing Group Volunteer
Home-Start Hampshire is a charity focused on supporting families across Hampshire with children aged 0-11 years who are experiencing challenging times.
We are seeking volunteers to join our team in Rushmoor & Hart to help support our weekly Maternal Wellbeing group on Mondays from 10.00am -11.30am.
The group, based in North Camp delivers a 12-week programme for up to 20 families at a time. Offering emotional and practical support, including activities for parents to build their confidence, resilience and manage their well-being. Children are given opportunities to socialise with others their own age through guided play.
You will work with an experienced member of staff and other volunteers to set out and pack away toys and activities for the children, welcome parents and make them a drink, take care of babies and children whilst their parents are present and offer friendly conversation to parents.
As a volunteer you will need to:
- Have parenting or other relevant lived experience.
- Have a positive, non-judgmental attitude to working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrate a sensitive and caring attitude towards others.
- Have good communication skills including an ability to listen.
- Have a warm and open personality and a sense of humour.
- Be able to support the group weekly or fortnightly.
- Complete the Home-Start preparation-training course (via eLearning and one face to face session)
